“I AM IN MY SIXTIES AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ACTIVE . I LOVE THE OUTDOORS AND WHEN I COMBINE THE TWO I AM THE HAPPIEST !
I WORK LONG HOURS,4 DAYS A WEEK IN HEALTHCARE WHICH IS STRESSFUL SO IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO MAKE TIME FOR STRESS-RELIEVING ACTIVITIES !
I EXERCISED THROUGH ALL MY PREGNANCIES AND STARTED TAP-DANCING WHEN PREGNANT WITH MY THIRD CHILD( Tap-dancing is a great low impact cardio ) . MY ACTIVE LIFESTYLE HELPED ME HAVE EASY DELIVERIES AND 2 OF MY KIDS WERE BORN WITHIN ONE HOUR OF MY ARRIVAL AT THE HOSPITAL.
I LIKE CHALLENGING MYSELF AND DOING THINGS FOR A GOOD CAUSE. I WALKED THE 3-DAY 60 MILE BREAST CANCER WALK WITH 3 FRIENDS IN THE YEAR 2000. TOGETHER WE RAISED OVER $10,000. IT DID INVOLVE LOT OF WALKING TO TRAIN FOR THAT !
HIKING IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO ! I HIKE ALL YEAR ROUND BUT ESPECIALLY LOVE IT IN FALL AND WINTER . I LIKE TO STAY CONNECTED WITH NATURE AND ENJOY THE CHANGES IN THE SEASONS.
WINTER IS MY FAVORITE TIME TO HIKE BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE FUTHUR IN THE WOODS WHEN THE LEAVES ARE DOWN AND YOU CAN SEE THE ANIMAL TRACKS IN THE SNOW. IF IT IS ICY, NO EXCUSE, I USE MICROSPIKES ON MY BOOTS .THEY ALLOW ME TO HIKE SAFELY UP AND DOWN SNOW AND ICE COVERED STEEP TRAILS AND WATERFALLS.
SPIKES ARE AMAZING AND MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I HAVE A SUPERPOWER ! THERE IS NO PLACE I CANNOT HIKE IN WINTER. MY NEXT BIG HIKING TRIP WITH FRIENDS IS COMING UP IN FEB AND IT IS IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE. I AM VERY EXCITED FOR THAT AND AM ALL READY WITH SNOWSHOES, MICRO-SPIKES AND A FULL BACKPACK.
I SKI DOWNHILL AND CROSS-COUNTRY. I LOVE BOTH FOR DIFFERENT REASONS ! IF IT IS REALLY COLD AND WINDY I PICK CROSS-COUNTRY AND IF IT IS LESS WINDY I CHOOSE DOWNHILL SKIING. BURNING A LOT OF CALORIES ENJOYING WHAT I DO IS A BONUS BY-PRODUCT.
I ALSO ENJOY INDOOR ACTIVITIES LIKE BARRE, PILATES AND YOGA ! I AM FINISHING UP MY 200HR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING COURSE AND CAN’T WAIT TO GUIDE OTHERS IN THEIR YOGA PRACTICE …TOTALLY LOVE IT …WOO..HOO….
I USED TO SWIM LAPS INDOORS BUT THE CHLORINE WAS VERY DRYING AND IT WAS HARD TO WASH IT OFF MY SKIN. SO, NOW I SWIM ONLY IN LAKES, OCEANS AND FRIEND’S POOL WHERE CHLORINE IS NOT USED .
I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR LIFE , AN AWESOME FAMILY , GREAT FRIENDS AND VERY FORTUNATE TO LIVE IN THE WOODS OF NH. I HAVE 40 ACRES RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DOOR SO IT IS EASY TO HAVE FUN AT A MOMEN’T NOTICE ALL YEAR LONG. MY DOG AND I JUST GO. IT IS OUR HAPPY PLACE. “
Friends, I feel so energized just writing about her….I have known Karen for quite sometime . She has always supported me in my dreams and goals of positively influencing people all over the world through holistic nutrition, exercise and self-love.
Environments are breeding grounds for success. Some have the right environment, some have to create it for themselves . Establish your health now, do what makes you happy. Lifting heavy and gymming makes me happy, I am not a cross-country skier, ( ha ha I do indoor ski ) and it is okay…make good lifestyle choices , it could be just going for a walk for you or for some of you it could be resistance training….
We are all in this world at the same time, does not mean we are taking the same journey…Build your itinerary around your desires, draw inspiration from Karen , use that power and energy as your one true source of inspiration to become the person you want to be.
